INDIA ON ISRAEL-PALESTINE ISSUE AND TWO STATE SOLUTION
News: India calls for immediate deescalation of Israel and Palestine, during UNSC meet, which was first after the lockdown.
India’s Statement:

It called for immediate de-escalation as the need of the hour, to arrest any sort of exaggeration of riots and violent activity.

It requested both the sides to show restraint and prevent any attempt to unilaterally change the status quo in Israel and Palestine.

It expressed it support to the “just Palestinian cause” and the two-state solution.
TWO STATE SOLUTION:

It provides for establishment of an independent Palestinian state along with Israel i.e. two states for two people.

Aim: Israel will gain security and to retain a Jewish demographic majority while Palestine will get a state.

It was agreed in 1991, after the mediation of United States, to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, in the Madrid Peace conference.
