SWINE FEVER

News:  Four districts of Mizoram have been declared as epicentres of the African swine fever (ASF).

About the swine fever:

• Causing organism: Virus

• Affecting organism: domestic/ wild pigs.

• Spread: it can spread from either dead or live organisms or pork products.

• Vaccine: there is no approved vaccine for the african swine fever, whereas a vaccine for classical swine fever also known as hog fever is available.

• Impact: It has severe economic and productive losses.
