Port city is widely known as Colombo’s port city situated near Colombo's main harbour. 

It is constructed with the help of China, it is the largest single foreign investment in Srilanka by China.

It is considered to be a tax haven as transactions within this port city will be in foreign denominations and the salary earned by the workers in this port city will be tax-exempted.
