CYCLONE IN BAY OF BENGAL

News: A cyclone in Bay of Bengal is developing amid the prevailing low pressure area in Bay of Bengal, a precursor to the cyclone. If the present low pressure area gets fully developed into a cyclone it will be known as  Yaas, a name proposed by Oman.

 

CYCLONES IN BAY OF BENGAL:

• Every year, cyclones in the Bay of Bengal are more often observed in months of May and November, coinciding with the arrival and exit of the monsoon. 

• The reason being the elevated temperatures in the Bay of Bengal allowing the creation of low pressure areas.
