What is plasma?


  • The liquid portion of blood is known as PLASMA. 

  • Our blood is composed of plasma (55%), and red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets (45% ) that are suspended in the plasma. 

  • Plasma in itself is composed of :

    • 92% water,

    •  7% vital proteins such as albumin, gamma globulin and anti-hemophilic factor, and 

    • 1% mineral salts, sugars, fats, hormones and vitamins.

What is plasma therapy?


  • Plasma of a person who is recovering from a particular disease say COVID-19, carries the antibodies against the disease.

  • Thus it is extracted and transplanted to the other patient who are infected in order to trigger immune response of the other person suffering form the disease.                                                        source of image: immunopedia.

IT IS REMOVED FROM THE LIST OF TREATMENT AGAINST COVID-19:

As per survey conducted in various countries Plasma therapy has not been proved effective against the COVID-19.


It couldn't improve the condition  of the patient. on the other found some reports found that the treatment leads to development of mutant virus.
